Lizzy  > Home > Moving Diamond Hill School
Sheridan County District 101 - an original 100 year old one room school house. Donated to Dobby's Frontier Town by the farmers and ranchers who went to school here and did not want to see it destroyed. We moved it 22 miles and it how has a new home where it can tell it's story.

Lizzy > Once we got it here, we had to find a way to get it into its new location. This was not an easy situation and took some intense manuevering...as you can see, the Saloon was not going to move over to let her in. But the Machine shop gave up a corner so that it would fit.
Lizzy > We also had to move a couple trees and this spring will see new ones planted around the foundation to make some cover.
Lizzy > Yes, it is a tight fit. Right up against an old tree row, but safe in a sheltered spot in the yard and soon to be a prime visitors locaiton.
Lizzy > Now the ties are coming out from under it and the trailer is pulled out....at the moment it sits 2 feet above ground until the last of the sill reinforment is done.
Lizzy > Here is the bell that will fit inside the cupolo on the small section. it will call the students to school and announce Sunday Church.
Lizzy > This is what it looks like at the moment. Still in the air a bit, but as soon as the floor and sill plate are stable, she will set down the last 2 feet.
Lizzy > Inside the school room as it looks now. The map dates back to pre WW1 and there are 3 of them on this roll.
Lizzy > The Library section and the old chalk board looking toward the entrance part of the building.
Lizzy > This is the Drama Curtain...painted and signed with the names of the local merchants in 1932.
