It came to us in an $1.00 junk box from an auction....tarnished brass, no clapper, no handle, just a solid brass school bell..... well around here, that presents a challenge!

Lizzy > it came in a Dollar box, no handle, no clapper, just a plain brass bell...most people would not have known what it was, but Dobby did! A new project for the new school house.

Lizzy > The screw in the last picture was used to make both the clapper and the handle. Turned down on the lathe to show a bit of style and design, then attached to the bell itself. Next was a piece of pretty wood for the handle.

Lizzy > CocoBollo wood was used to make this gorgeous handle. It was supposed to have a plain black painted handle...not for something this rare! Here is the finished product all polished on the outside, sealed and ready to ring.

Lizzy > This will sit in a glass case securely fastened to the teachers desk in the school house. No way is this going to walk away again. Once again it will share space with the books.
